Welcome to the World of Music blog. The purpose of this blog is to cover the vast impact that music has on different aspects of life, along with provide tips and tricks on lessons, finding good instrumental teachers, and how to get yourself or your child more involved in music in your area. I am sure that you have read about the benefits that music education can have on education, but music also has impact on brain development, fine motor skills, and can even play a role in medical outcomes. Obviously, I’m sure you have also heard that music is fun. This blog will combine personal experience with past and future research to give help give students, parents, musical educators, and the everyday music lover a few new resources to help add a bit more music in their lives.
Now, before diving into topics, we have to say that we will be focusing on the positive aspects of music, because we love music. If there is a battle raging between a world with music and a world without it, this blog is firmly on the side with music. Between the two of us, there are two violins, two music degrees from top conservatories, and a Master’s degree in Psychology with a focus on how music can impact behavior. We are always open to questions, suggestions, and would love to hear about topics that you may want us to cover. If it is related to music, we want to hear about it. If you would like to collaborate, let us know that too.
This is an exciting new adventure for us, as we are attempting to create a good starting point for musical information that can be used for educational purposes. We are doing the leg work for you, so that if you are looking for a particular topic in music, we can give you a bit of an overview of the research then point you in the right diction to get you going. In next week’s blog, we will take a dive into the impact that music can have on a student’s ability to read, so keep an eye out for our next post!
